A Journey from Server to Resident Artist

This project has a special place in my heart because of how it all began. It’s actually a funny story of how I became the dedicated artist for Friends American Grill, a local franchise restaurant in Atlanta. Before pursuing mural art full-time, I worked at Friends as both a server and cook. While they were preparing to open a new location, their usual artist wasn’t available to decorate the space. Seeing the opportunity, I offered to step in and paint the mural.

At the time, I wasn’t known for murals—I had only done a few pieces, so naturally, the owners looked at me like, “What do you know about murals and art?” It was a fair question, and I couldn’t help but laugh too. Murals were something I did on the side for fun, not yet a full-blown career. Despite the doubts, Suzanne and Ray, the owners of Friends, decided to take a chance on me. That moment was a turning point, the first time I realized that what I considered a hobby could turn into a successful and fulfilling career.

Since then, Suzanne and Ray have continued to challenge my artistic skills in the best ways. Over the years, they’ve asked me to paint everything from vintage cars to cartoon characters, portraits, and bold pop art. Each project pushed me to expand my creative boundaries, and I truly enjoy the collaboration we’ve built. It’s been a rewarding journey watching the Friends American Grill brand grow while being a part of its visual identity in each new location.
